In bold commitment to Paris Agreement, Ukraine pledges further reduction in emissions

The Government of Ukraine updated its Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 65 percent by 2030 from the 1990 levels. Ukraine’s previous commitment was to reduce emisions by only 40 percent.

Eastern Partnership countries discuss climate change adaption strategies

The second Regional Workshop on Adaptation Plans and Strategies organised by the EU4Climate highlighted best practices and presented efficient tools for policymakers to use in mitigating the effects of the changing climate. During the workshop Ukrainian experience was presented with outlined 11 recommendations for colleagues from other Eastern Partnership countries.

EU and UNDP discuss climate change issues with young people and local authorities in Kyiv

Some 70 youth leaders and representatives of local authorities gathered in Kyiv for the Climate Ambition Forum on 27 February, where they discussed the most pressing climate-related issues and sought ways to address them. The forum was held as part of the EU4Climate project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP. It was organized by UNDP in cooperation with the NGO “Center for Public Communications,” the Ukrainian Climate Network, the Association of Ukrainian Cities, and the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management.
