New EaP Webinar Series Launches on Mobilising Domestic Climate Finance
On 6 November, the EU4ClimateResilience project successfully held its first regional webinar, bringing together representatives from the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries to discuss ways of financing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and climate adaptation efforts through domestic sources.
The purpose of the webinar was to equip decision-makers from the EaP countries with knowledge and practical examples on how to finance their NDCs and climate adaptation efforts using domestic sources, including public budgets and financing from the domestic private sector.
The webinar gathered representatives from across the Eastern Partnership countries, including:
-
Ministries of Environment, Finance, and Economy, as well as related agencies
-
National market regulators and banking authorities
-
Domestic banking institutions and private sector representatives
-
Local authorities and their representative organisations
-
Other relevant decision-makers and stakeholders involved in developing or supporting climate finance mechanisms
During the webinar, participants were introduced to:
-
An overview of domestic climate finance sources
-
A roundtable discussion on experiences from EaP countries
-
The use of domestic finance sources for climate action in the European Union
-
Inter-ministerial coordination on policies for financing climate mitigation and investment
The webinar contributed to strengthening regional cooperation and supported efforts to build capacities for mobilising domestic finance for climate resilience across the Eastern Partnership region.
