Puppet Show Brings Climate Awareness to Europe Day Celebrations in Kutaisi
Europe Day celebrations continued across Georgia, reaching the heart of Imereti with a vibrant event in Kutaisi. Following successful activities in Tbilisi and Batumi, the EU4ClimateResilience project once again joined the festivities — this time with a special puppet show designed for children and families.
The performance, titled “Climate and Friendship: A Puppet Adventure,” blended humor, music and storytelling to raise awareness about climate change and environmental care. Through the adventures of a clever cat, a brave rooster, and a mischievous fox, young audiences learned about friendship, teamwork, and the importance of protecting nature.
Held at School Progress, the show drew enthusiastic participation from children, parents, and teachers. The interactive format made complex topics like climate change relatable and fun, encouraging children to think about simple actions they can take, such as saving water, planting trees and reducing waste.
The performance ended on an inspiring note as the children enthusiastically joined in a symbolic clean-up activity – collecting pieces of litter from the stage area and placing them in recycling bins. This playful finale reinforced the message that every small action counts when it comes to caring for our planet.
By engaging young audiences through art and play, the initiative highlighted the importance of community awareness and education in building a climate-resilient future.
The puppet show was part of Europe Day celebrations organized under the EU’s Global Green Diplomacy Week Campaign and implemented by GIZ Georgia through the EU4ClimateResilience project, co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
