Azerbaijani Experts Join International Discussions on Agricultural Insurance and Climate Adaptation in Paris

On 5–6 October 2026, representatives of Azerbaijan’s Water and Melioration Scientific Research Institute, Gunay Abbasova and Narmin Seyidova, participated in an international event on “Agricultural Insurance and Climate Adaptation” held in Paris, France. Their participation took place within the framework of the EU4ClimateResilience.

The event brought together discussions on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), climate policy and climate finance, as well as agricultural insurance and climate adaptation under the PROGRESS project. With the participation of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), discussions focused on the impacts of climate change on water resources and agriculture, climate risk management, and financial mechanisms to support adaptation.

Particular attention was given to effective water resource management as a key component of climate adaptation. Drawing on assessments based on regional climate models, participants highlighted the importance of planning irrigation and drainage systems according to regional climate conditions.

The discussions also emphasised the need to assess future water demand and the economic implications of infrastructure investments to strengthen climate resilience in the agricultural sector.
