Moldova strengthens MRV capacities through study visit to Estonia
A delegation of nine representatives from the Republic of Moldova completed a study visit to Estonia on 24–27 November 2025, aimed at strengthening national capacities in monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of greenhouse gas emissions and improving understanding of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).
The delegation included experts from the Ministry of Environment, Environment Agency, SA Termoelectrica, and the Agency for Electronic Governance.
During the visit, participants engaged with key Estonian institutions involved in MRV implementation under the EU ETS, including Nomine Consult OÜ, the Ministry of Climate, the Environmental Board, ENEFIT, the e-Estonia Briefing Centre, and Utilitas. Sessions covered topics such as accreditation and verification processes, data management and calculation methodologies, institutional responsibilities, and practical approaches to emissions monitoring in the energy and industrial sectors.
The visit provided Moldovan experts with insights into Estonia’s established MRV and ETS frameworks, as well as opportunities to exchange experience and best practices.
The knowledge gained will support Moldova’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its national MRVA system and improve the transparency, accuracy, and efficiency of greenhouse gas reporting, contributing to alignment with EU climate standards.
