High-Level German Delegation Explores Climate-Resilient Urban Development Efforts in Gavar

From 16–18 September, a delegation from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) conducted an official visit to the Republic of Armenia.

On 17 September, the delegation, together with representatives of the EU Delegation to Armenia, the German Embassy in Armenia, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and GIZ visited the Gavar community.

The visit began in Gavar City Park, where the “Dream Garden” initiative is being launched under the EU4ClimateResilience project. The Dream Garden aims to revitalize an existing but underdeveloped urban park through nature-based solutions, creating a modern, climate-resilient green space tailored to local needs.

Following the site visit, the delegation held discussions at the Gavar Municipality, where the project concept, planned activities and implementation timeline were presented.

Participants emphasized the multi-functional vision for the future Dream Garden, the importance of a participatory and community-centered approach, and the project’s potential to serve as a national and regional model for green urban development.
